During a BBQ a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ - had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed an getting to the patient within 3 hours which is tough. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

- *Ask the individual to SMILE.
- *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
- *Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)
After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

Hot Water Trouble
Have you been running out of hot water lately????
Think your hot water tank is worn out but it is only 4 or 5 years old.
Check the screens on your Faucets. Notice any white or chaulky gunk?
This could be caused by a faulty part in your hot water tank.
Hot Water tanks have an inlet and outlet pipe. The inlet pipe is designed to deliver the cold water to the bottom of the tank so that it doesn't interfere with the hot water while you are in the shower.
The cold water dip tube is a type of plastic, and when new, is almost as long as the tank is high. What happens is, the Chlorine in our fresh water supply is corrosive enough to eat away at the pipe. Over time the pipe becomes shorter and shorter until the hot and cold water are mixing at the top of the tank. No hot water!!!!!
I had this for a problem and called my plumber, who replaced the plastic pipe with Copper. My hot water never runs out and as an added bonus, my natural gas bill decreased.
Just might save you some money!
Home Inspections
The one chance you get to really get a thorough, in depth, look at the property you have chosen to buy. Don't pass it up!!!!!
Hire a "qualified", respected, Independent, Home Inspector. They charge around $300.00 for the average home. This will be the best money you spend in preparation to purchase your chosen property.

Looking at a property from their unbiased view point allows them to be more aware of potential trouble. They remove your emotional element from their inspection.
Don't pass up an inspection! It could save you a small fortune.
